History
Greenbrier Golf and Country Club was founded in 1971 to uphold the traditions, serenity and excellence of exclusive private golf and country club living. Originated and developed by William Morris Hart Sr. and Watts & Call, Inc., Greenbrier provides an environment unmatched in Lexington. From its inception in 1971 Greenbrier has remained true to Mr. Hart's vision of an upscale, uncrowded, family-oriented country club. Today, Greenbrier is owned and operated by Mr. Hart's two sons - William M. Hart Jr. and Larry Hart.
Greenbrier Golf & Country Club has a 6,754-yard, par-72 course with Zoysiagrass fairways that is as beautiful as it is sophisticated. Continually setting standards of excellence and forward thinking, the Club is never complacent and always eyeing the future. A long history of assessment free capital improvements includes:
2011 - $800,000 Junior Olympic size and toddler swimming pool renovations to have the largest pool deck in the area.
2015 - $1.2M golf course irrigation renovation and replacement.
2018 - $800,000 clubhouse renovation
In 2023 the Club took on the largest capital project in Club history by constructing a state-of-the-art 16,000 square foot $5.5M Lifestyle Center. The new facility includes a 5,000 sq. ft. fitness facility, second dining area with an outdoor patio and fire pits overlooking our updated practices facilities and swimming pools. But that’s not all – we have four Trackman simulators with multi-sport features, PuttView putting green, and a new kids’ activity center.
One other amenity that no other Club in Lexington enjoys is a 19-acre fishing lake that is reserved for Greenbrier members only. Greenbrier Golf & Country Club is, and always has been, the place where Lexington's families come to play!
